This journal entry is about the little word of need. First, I see the need to write a new journal entry because I'm slightly annoyed at deviantArt and secondly because I can safely say the previous journal entry was well gone off and ready to be dumped.
So. I was annoyed -am- because apparently it has been decided that everyone on dA 'needs' premium membership. I just wanted to say that need is something that people in Africa experience because they're dying of lack of clean water (such as the water we're flushing our toilet with).
So if anyone has money left over, don't waste it for sponsoring other people's dA premium membership. I know that some people actually do that.
This world is a very sick, crazy place.
And commercialism is spreading through everything like a worm.. if money gets in the game it ruins everything. Things start off nice, a good idea behind it, but the more popular the project is getting, people get greedy and just want more and get more and more presumptous.
What do we know about need?

Edit:
Guys, I have thought about this some more. In fact, I didn't need the pants and the top I bought today. I didn't need those strawberries. Neither do I need a 700€ SLR camera. So I'm guilty as charged.
I can't get to a final verdict on this matter. In a way, I think it's okay for us to enjoy life and get something nice and maybe not-so-essencial from time to time. Yet, if you consider that my camera alone would serve to provide food for one year for 15 children in Africa- how can I possibly state something like that?
-Okay, I thought some more still and here's what: I think it's fine to have things you don't need because life is something to be enjoyed, and if you're always trying to frantically avoid things that you don't need by all means you're just going to end up a bitter person. But still we have to see what it means to have a lifestyle such as we do in a world where people are starving.
I think we need more awareness.

I'm even sort of glad now I was reminded of this because of dAs stupid statement.
